POCKET = PLACE OF PROTECTION
THE PASSAGES
John 6:16-21, John 8:2-11
The passages found in both John 6 and John 8 reveal Jesus as our refuge. In John 6 Jesus walked on water to save His disciples from the raging storms. He told them to not be afraid (John 6:20). And then everything was calmed.
The story in John 8 showed us how Jesus stepped in to help the woman caught in adultery. This was very unusual for Jewish society at that time. The time when men did not want to have anything to do with women in public. In both stories — Jesus saves — He cares for the outcast and for those who are unworthy in many’s eyes as much as He cares for His disciples.
As soon as baby wombat is born it will crawl into its mother’s pouch. The joey (baby wombat) will remain in the pouch nursing and developing until it’s ready to come out (around 8 months). At first, the young wombat will leave the pouch for only short periods. When disturbed or frightened, it will return to the mother’s pouch for safety and protection.
We have Jesus calling us into his protection. All we have to do is to step into His pocket and He will protect us from the evil in this cruel world. We all can find refuge in our Lord. He does not discriminate.
THE PRAYERS
Throughout this week, pray that you will find refuge in Jesus. Pray also that you will have your eyes out for those underdogs in the society and show them our Lord’s love.
