We are living in uncertain times. Many events have been cancelled. In a span of just a few weeks, all social gathering were banned across the country. Many businesses were brought down to their knees. Many people were let go from their job. A lot of people were panic buying in the shops. The streets have gone quiet. Playgrounds were closed. More than ever, we all need encouragement from one another. We need a big BIG hug but that would be hard given we have to maintain 1.5 meters distance from each other.

Thankfully we are socially isolated ONLY physically. Here is a list of three ways you can still socialise with your friends while maintaining the distance.

  1. The old fashion way of snail mail. When was the last time you send someone a letter? This is a chance to bring back that old fashion charm. When we are all living apart and can only contact each other virtually, there is something charming about receiving a hand written note. This old fashion way of communication can certainly warm someone’s heart. There is no need to write pages and pages of letter. A little postcard with thoughtful messages will suffice. If you haven’t got any postcard handy, I have created a postcard for you to print out here
  2. Leveraging technology. There are a lot of messaging apps out there. Be it WhatsApp, Line, WeChat, Messengers, Hangouts etc. The list goes on and on. Surely you can find a common app that you and your mates can hang out virtually.
  3. Join an online community. There are a lot of virtual events happening online now. Choose the group that share your interests. There are a lot of Facebook groups or live events hosting on YouTube or Instagram. House party has become overly popular during this time. TikTok and Discord are very popular among teens. There sure will be an online community for everyone. For those looking for an online church, please check out OnlineChurch.Melbourne
